Chris Hitchen joined the Civil Service, as Finance Director in January 2010, and now has responsibility for Finance, Procurement, Planning & Performance, Risk, Estates and Programme Management. Chris graduated in Accounting and Finance in 1992 and gained his Chartered Management Accounting qualification (ACMA) in 1996 whilst working in range of Financial Accounting roles at Yorkshire Water. He then spent two years as a Management Accountant with MD Foods plc (now Arla Foods UK). He then joined General Electric (GE Capital) in 1998, where he worked in a range of senior finance roles, latterly as the Head of Finance Auto UK, and was part of the management team that led the sale of the UK Auto loan business to Santander in 2009. He then worked for Santander for a year helping to integrate the two Finance functions before joining the Food Standards Agency.
